A girl washing her face at a village tap

When the drilling team arrived in Kanyawegi, Amina was the first to ask what they were building.

Six weeks later, the village’s first well was pumping clean water, and Amina was back in class every morning on time.

A village decision

The village committee chose the spot, a short walk from the school and the clinic. Two local mechanics trained with our team so they can fix the pump themselves.

“Now I fetch water in ten minutes, and I’m never late for maths.”

What’s next

The committee has already started saving for a second well on the far side of the village.

For years, ten-year-old Amina walked two hours to the river before school. The new well in Kanyawegi changed that in a week.
